Chief of Staff, Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a senior organizational leader and strategic collaborator with the Head of Engineering and the Engineering Leadership Team.

• Influence the operational framework of Engineering, guiding decision-making and execution towards essential objectives.

• Drive positive outcomes through collaboration, influence, and a deep understanding of organizational dynamics.

• Manage key operational processes and regular rhythms.

• Address complex challenges and identify sources of organizational friction.

• Create actionable strategies for cross-departmental execution.

• Introduce innovative ideas to enhance departmental workflows.

• Utilize modern tools and AI to eliminate operational inefficiencies.

• Engage with senior technical leaders as a strategic equal.

• Transform high-level visions into sustainable organizational achievements.

• Monitor delegated tasks and ensure progress is tracked through to completion.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of relevant professional experience.

• Direct experience in roles such as engineer, Engineering Manager (EM), or technical program leader within a software organization.

• Experience functioning as a strategic ally or Chief of Staff to a CTO, Head of Engineering, VP of Engineering, or another senior technical executive.

• Proven ability to identify organizational or operational challenges, create plans, delegate tasks, and ensure progress is achieved.

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Capability to influence senior leaders, facilitate intricate decision-making, constructively challenge assumptions, and foster stakeholder alignment.

• Experience thriving in fast-paced environments with adaptability and resourcefulness.

• Skill in converting unstructured challenges into clear, repeatable practices.

• Ability to align company and technology strategies with organizational priorities, operational plans, and measurable results.

• Personal proficiency with AI tools and experience in applying AI to enhance organizational processes.

• Preferred: Experience as Chief of Staff, Engineering Operations, or similar roles reporting to a senior engineering executive.

• Preferred: Background in a high-growth or rapidly scaling technology organization.

• Preferred: Experience in healthcare technology or other highly regulated or complex industries.

• Preferred: Knowledge in organizational design, workforce planning, or change management/transformation.

• Preferred: Previous hands-on engineering experience, including writing and delivering code.

• Must reside in the United States; currently not hiring in Hawaii.

• Must have eligibility to work in the United States.
