This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Provide strategic leadership and enhance the development of the legal department.
• Structure, build, and strategically develop a growing legal team, including law students, paralegals, and fully qualified attorneys, while managing the internal law office connection.
• Establish legally effective association structures and resolutions, while mitigating liability risks.
• Serve as internal legal counsel, ensuring compliance and governance.
• Manage all internal legal matters responsibly, including strategic evaluations.
• Assist the executive board, department heads, and working groups on issues related to labor and contract law, association law and bylaws, compliance and governance, as well as data protection.
• Oversee operational legal management and process design.
• Create and implement efficient processes for systematically handling legal matters.
• Professionally manage and prioritize consumer legal inquiries, ensuring standardized legal classification and clear protection mechanisms are in place (comprehensive coverage through directors & officers, liability, legal expenses, and VSHP insurance).
• Handle contract management and external legal enforcement.
• Coordinate the external operational implementation of legal actions, enforcement, and determinations in consumer and corporate law matters.
• Administer, review, and legally assess contracts with external partners, service providers, and funding institutions.
• Draft contracts for projects, collaborations, and memberships.
• Apply under § 4d UKlaG and § 8 UWG to the lists of qualified institutions, and develop a partnership structure with attorneys and law firms for outsourcing litigation.
• Fully qualified lawyer with a completed Second State Examination (2. Staatsexamen) and a strong grasp of civil, consumer, and corporate law issues.
• Proven experience in leading, building, or strategically developing legal structures, ideally in a responsible role within a law firm, organization, or legal department.
• Exceptional strategic thinking and design skills to navigate complex legal and organizational challenges and transform them into sustainable solutions.
• Ability to present complex issues in a clear, understandable, and practical manner.
• A sense of responsibility, leadership qualities, and a structured approach to work.
• A strong desire to rethink consumer protection in Germany and promote sustainable, public-interest-oriented initiatives.
• Willingness to volunteer in a remotely organized association.
