This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take full charge of the operation, upkeep, and repair of all machinery and equipment aboard the vessel.
• Oversee and enhance the performance of propulsion, power generation, HVAC, plumbing, and other auxiliary systems.
• Execute preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and increase reliability.
• Diagnose equipment failures and coordinate repairs with external contractors.
• Enforce safety measures and ensure adherence to maritime regulations and industry standards.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify and mitigate safety hazards or equipment shortcomings.
• Keep precise records of maintenance activities, inspections, and safety drills.
• Collaborate with relevant authorities and agencies to fulfill safety and environmental compliance requirements.
• Promote a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and safety awareness.
• Offer guidance and assistance to the onboard team in managing maintenance tasks and resolving technical issues.
• Develop and manage the engineering budget while tracking expenses and optimizing costs.
• Monitor inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and supplies necessary for maintenance and repairs.
• Supervise procurement activities, ensuring timely delivery of essential items within budgetary limits.
• Prepare reports regarding equipment performance, maintenance efforts, and budget usage.
• Communicate with classification societies, regulatory agencies, and auditors for inspections and assessments.
• Stay informed about industry regulations, technological innovations, and best practices in marine engineering.
• First Class Engineer on motor ship.
• 3-5 years of prior experience as a Chief Engineer or in a comparable position within the maritime sector.
• Exceptional understanding and command of the English language (both written and verbal); proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Capability to pass a drug and alcohol test prior to hiring and potential random tests during employment with prior notification.
