This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• Acts as a subject matter expert on Charge Description Master (CDM) regulatory standards and payer contractual obligations to ensure alignment of CDM line items with current billing and coding regulations, guidelines, and contractual commitments.
• Assesses evolving regulatory and payer requirements, carrying out research and analysis, and suggesting necessary updates to the CDM.
• Reviews and modifies the Charge Description Master within the CDM software, serving as the main point of contact for knowledge regarding the Charge Description Master.
• Maintains CDM data elements (billing descriptions, Current Procedural Terminology/Healthcare Procedure Coding System codes, revenue codes for Inpatient/Outpatient, and appropriate modifiers) in the CDM software.
• Communicates modifications made to the corporate CDM to affected users and areas.
• Conducts Epic pre-work activities related to the chargemaster mapping from the legacy system to Epic.
• Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related field.
• RHIA-Registered Health Information Administrator OR RHIT-Registered Health Information Technician OR CPC-Certified Professional Coder OR COC-Certified Outpatient Coder OR CCS-Certified Coding Specialist OR CCS-P-Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based.
• A minimum of 2 years of recent relevant experience.
• Extensive knowledge of charge master coding requirements, including Revenue Codes, Current Procedural Terminology, Healthcare Procedural Coding Systems, and modifiers.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and the medical record coding process.
• Understanding of Outpatient Code Editor edits/National correct coding edits.
• Knowledge of Revenue Cycle applications, including Electronic Medical Records systems.
• Awareness of all aspects related to CDM/Charge Capture management functions in both acute and non-acute settings and their interrelationships.
• Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques associated with compliant healthcare billing.
• Ability to implement strategies and convey knowledge of business processes and enabling technologies, particularly in a CDM/Charge Capture role.

• High levels of accuracy, attention to detail, and time management capabilities.
• Capability to conceptualize, plan, and execute stated goals and objectives.
• Proficient in managing personal schedules and responsibilities.
• Must demonstrate initiative to work effectively with minimal supervision, meeting all deadlines.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while meeting established productivity requirements and collaborating with individuals of diverse personalities and work styles.

• Proficient in utilizing spreadsheet, word processing, statistical, project management, and presentation software applications, including the Microsoft Suite, along with knowledge of Patient Management information systems, preferably EPIC.
