Charge / Code Capture Specialist – Health Information Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Evaluate clinical documentation as necessary to extract data and correctly assign the appropriate facility level CPT following established algorithms and coding metrics.

• Under the guidance of the HIM Coding Manager, carry out assigned responsibilities that emphasize effective communication, precise leveling, and data entry.

• Correctly assign suitable facility levels and procedure codes for all ED/OBS services in accordance with CPT and CMS guidelines.

• Effectively communicate with providers, office managers, auditors, and the billing department to ensure the highest quality of service is captured.

• Review provider dictations as needed to confirm that all documentation is accurate.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• CPC Certification.

• A minimum of two years of E/M leveling experience and at least one year of procedural coding experience.

• Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare system, or similar service-oriented environment.

• Familiarity with Augusta Health’s systems, workflows, or organizational culture is an advantage.

• Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as effective interpersonal skills are required.

• Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computer applications and coding software.
