This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky.
• Acts as a messenger and representative of faith, mission, and purpose.
• Engages with businesses, their staff, and the community in a way that demonstrates integrity through personal and spiritual practices.
• Conducts regular brief visits to company worksites (typically weekly) to connect with employees and foster a relationship built on trust and friendship, driven by the Chaplain’s profound Christian faith.
• Visits employees or their immediate family members in settings where care can be offered, including hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, residences, or other locations.
• May provide confidential pastoral conversations regarding personal issues faced by employees and their immediate families, such as family matters, divorce, serious health conditions, care for aging parents, grief and loss, parenting, financial challenges including debt discussions, budgeting, and other life issues related to financial stress, as well as other personal matters. Offers referral services and coordinates specialized support for employees and/or their immediate family members with specific needs.
• May assist with planning and conducting or attending funerals for employees or their immediate families, including offering follow-up support and encouragement during the grieving process.
• May visit employees and their immediate family members in jail.
• Collaborates with companies to communicate notifications of deaths and serious injuries to families and other employees, providing encouragement to those affected by various tragedies.
• May offer post-termination support for laid-off or terminated employees to ensure a smooth transition to a new work environment.
• May facilitate, but not lead, spiritual enrichment activities, as initiatives led by employees are generally more effective than those led by a chaplain.
• Provides literature and other resources to assist company employees with life challenges, as appropriate and upon request.
• Represents companies to clients/customers when ministry services are relevant (e.g., serious illness, accidents, traumatic events, and funerals).
• Participates in new employee orientation to explain the Employee Care Service and the role of the Chaplain Team.
• With the approval of the Executive Director of Operations (EDO), responds positively and assertively to other duties and services requested by executive leadership of companies, in accordance with the Letter of Agreement between MCHAP Chaplains and the company.
• Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team and within an interfaith environment. Must be open to accepting diverse lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
• Proficient in effective listening and interaction with clients, employees, and their families. Capable of delivering community presentations and managing family members and staff in high-stress situations. Holds a high regard for the dignity and worth of clients, employees, and their families. Skilled in coping with stressful situations and documenting accurately according to standards.
• Exhibits spiritual maturity and a commitment to a Christian lifestyle aligned with MCHAP's Ministry values. Integrates Christian principles and beliefs into daily activities and job performance. Possesses a fundamental understanding of the Holy Bible and its appropriate application. Holds a saving faith in Jesus Christ and actively participates in a biblically based church.
• Proven ability to engage professionally with diplomacy, patience, and courtesy across diverse groups; capable of establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships while delivering exceptional customer service. Able to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential matters.
• Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with leadership, colleagues, employees, and families. Maintains emotional stability to handle human suffering, emergencies, and other stressful situations.
• Proven skill in analyzing information to identify and follow up on problems or objectives. Capable of identifying solutions and resolving issues. Demonstrated ability to interpret policies and procedures related to the position and keep others informed.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using Google Suites, Microsoft Office, or other equivalent software, as well as internet, email messaging, and web-based software applications. Ability to understand and learn new technology programs.
• Must possess an active state driver’s license and meet state minimum auto insurance requirements (in the states where clients are served).
