This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Acts as a messenger and representative of faith, mission, and purpose.

• Engages with companies, their employees, and the community in a way that reflects character through personal and spiritual practices.

• Conducts regular visits to company worksites (typically on a weekly basis) to connect with employees and nurture relationships built on trust and friendship inspired by Christian faith.

• Visits employees or their immediate family members in various settings where care can be provided, including hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, family homes, or other locations.

• May offer confidential pastoral conversations for employee-related issues, including family dynamics, divorce, serious health concerns, elder care, grief recovery, parenting challenges, financial matters such as debt, budgeting, and other life stressors, as well as addressing any personal issues. Acts as a referral service and coordinator for specialized assistance for employees and/or their immediate families with specific needs.

• May assist in planning and attending funerals for employees or their immediate family members, providing follow-up support and encouragement to those in grief.

• May conduct visits to jails for employees and their immediate family members.

• Collaborates with companies to communicate notifications of deaths and serious injuries to families and other employees, offering support to those affected by various tragedies.

• May provide post-termination support for laid-off or terminated employees to ensure a smooth transition to new work environments.

• May facilitate, but not lead, spiritual enrichment initiatives, as employee-led activities are often more effective than those led by a chaplain.

• Provides literature and resources as needed/requested to assist company employees with life challenges.

• Represents companies to clients/customers where ministry services may be relevant (e.g., serious illness, accidents, traumatic events, and funerals).

• Participates in new employee orientation to outline the Employee Care Service and the Chaplain Team's role.

• With the Executive Director of Operations (EDO) approval, responds positively and proactively to additional duties and services requested by executive leadership of companies, within the parameters of the Letter of Agreement between MCHAP Chaplains and the company.

• Ability to collaborate as a member of an interdisciplinary group and work in an interfaith environment. Must be open to diverse lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.

• Skills for effectively listening and interacting with clients, employees, and their families. Capable of delivering community presentations and managing interactions with family members and staff in high-stress situations. High respect for the dignity and worth of clients, employees, and their families. Ability to handle stressful situations and document accurately per standards.

• Demonstrates spiritual maturity and commitment to a Christian lifestyle aligned with MCHAP's Ministry values. Incorporates Christian principles in daily activities and job performance. Possesses a foundational understanding of the Holy Bible and its appropriate applications. Affirms a saving faith in Jesus Christ and actively engages in a biblically grounded church.

• Proven ability to interact professionally with diplomacy, patience, and courtesy across diverse groups; excels in establishing and maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships while providing outstanding customer service. Capable of making administrative and procedural decisions on sensitive, confidential matters.

• Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills to effectively engage with leadership, colleagues, employees, and families. Ability to maintain emotional stability in the face of human suffering, emergencies, and other stressors.

• Proven skill in analyzing information to identify and address problems or objectives. Ability to pinpoint solutions and resolve issues. Skilled in interpreting policies and procedures related to the position and keeping others informed.

• Demonstrated proficiency in computer usage, including Google Suites, Microsoft Office, or equivalent software, internet, email messaging, and web-based applications. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology programs.

• Must possess an active state driver’s license and meet state minimum auto insurance requirements for the states in which clients are served.
