This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +17 more states.
• Assign and organize ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, specialty, and emergency room records.
• Evaluate medical records for documentation gaps and ensure accurate representation of diagnoses and procedures.
• Review charges, confirm accuracy, and assess medical necessity for tests and procedures that are ordered.
• Collaborate with providers, staff, leadership, and hospital departments to ensure proper documentation.
• Conduct timely follow-up on accounts that are on hold.
• Abstract clinical data following documentation assessment and review.
• Adhere to coding guidelines and legal standards for regulatory compliance.
• Verify patient accounts, types, and demographic information, coordinating necessary corrections.
• Ensure precise billing, reimbursement, and reporting.
• Meet productivity standards set by the Revenue Integrity Coding department.
• Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
• Engage in continuing education activities.
• Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
• Minimum of one year of professional coding experience.
• Must possess a nationally recognized coding certification; CCA, CCS, CPC, or AAPC certification is required.
• Familiarity with ICD 10 CM and CPT 4 coding guidelines and practices.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong critical thinking abilities and capacity to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and capability to handle sensitive and confidential situations professionally.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software programs.
• Must reside in Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or Washington.
