This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
β’ Conduct remote ophthalmic triage by evaluating patient symptoms.
β’ Gather ocular and medical histories from patients.
β’ Assess the urgency of visual concerns using established protocols.
β’ Identify the appropriate course of action, including urgent, emergent, or routine care.
β’ Facilitate patient care by managing and responding to real-time communications.
β’ Collaborate with scheduling teams and healthcare providers.
β’ Review, prioritize, and address messages within electronic medical records.
β’ Document patient interactions, triage evaluations, clinical recommendations, and communications with providers.
β’ Educate patients on eye conditions, treatment plans, medications, and symptoms that necessitate further care escalation.
β’ Engage in quality assurance initiatives.
β’ Completion of training as an Ophthalmic Technician.
β’ Certification as a certified Ophthalmic Technician through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).
β’ No prior experience needed beyond the education/training requirement OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
