This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +9 more states.
• Review and assess client files to ensure adherence to the National Organic Standards.
• Carry out annual and supplementary certification evaluations for MOSA clients utilizing National Organic Standards, MOSA policies, and other relevant resources.
• Document review activities and sign off on certification documents for issuance.
• Enforce compliance with both MOSA and NOP requirements.
• Prioritize reviews to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Evaluate fees in accordance with the MOSA fee schedules.
• Provide customer service to clients and staff, addressing certification inquiries as needed.
• Engage in peer reviews of client correspondence and certification documents.
• Assess materials used for organic production or handling, as well as product labels, for compliance.
• Review residue test result files influenced by NOP variances and surveillance efforts.
• Execute additional verifications and/or certifications offered by MOSA.
• Contribute to the enhancement of MOSA's certification program, systems, documents, databases, and public comments.
• Complete at least 15 hours of continuing education each year.
• Maintain a solid understanding of MOSA policies, procedures, mission, vision, and values.
• Stay informed about current issues impacting the organic sector.
• Attend meetings, conferences, and training sessions, representing MOSA at industry events as necessary.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by Certification Team Leaders or the Certification Services Director.
• Optional inspection responsibilities: conduct unannounced on-site inspections, surveillance, residue sampling, and peer evaluations.
• A minimum of 2,000 hours of experience or education in agriculture, food processing/manufacturing, and/or the organic industry.
• A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance is essential.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with a diverse client base.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Skill in developing work plans and performing effectively in a team setting.
• Ability to deliver high-quality, detailed work while adhering to deadlines.
• Strong reading comprehension and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proficient in organizational, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with Google Suite, word processing, databases, and online research.
• Ability to work for extended periods on a computer.
• Optional inspection duties require the ability to navigate uneven terrain, possess a valid driver's license, travel independently, work outdoors, and manage equipment transport of up to 30 pounds.
