Cartographer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define and generalize port, waterway, coastal, offshore, and multipart features utilizing approved parent geometry, authoritative sources, and the Waterways Harmonization model.

• Assist in the creation of approved supplemental geometry.

• Establish logical geographic starting and ending points for features.

• Maintain standardized naming conventions and source lineage.

• Ensure that the resulting features are appropriate for operational use, public display, ingestion, maintenance, and archival purposes.

• Identify areas where government decisions are necessary to address ambiguity, source conflicts, or issues with feature interpretation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of three years of professional experience in cartography or hydrography.

• Experience in delineating and generalizing port, waterway, coastal, or maritime features.

• Proven experience in preparing data suitable for operational and public display.

• Preferred experience with nautical, hydrographic, transportation, coastal, emergency response, or public-facing geospatial datasets.

• Strong cartographic judgment and a keen eye for feature representation.

• Ability to balance geographic accuracy with operational utility and visual clarity.

• Capability to work within established schemas and uphold quality standards.

• Skill in identifying issues that necessitate government decisions to resolve ambiguity, source conflict, or feature interpretation problems.

• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.

• Successful completion of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screening.

• Adherence to the company’s drug and alcohol policy.

• Authorization to work in the US or authorization by the successful candidate’s start date.
