This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Collaborating with the National Organizing Hub to represent and support the International Union in implementing its comprehensive organizing initiatives;
• Formulating campaign strategies that encompass processes for researching and establishing effective demands;
• Designing and sustaining multi-faceted, collaborative strategy tables to synchronize campaign efforts and activities.
• Providing collaboration and support for local unions at the state, regional, and/or national level in the development, execution, and enhancement of strategic organizing programs and campaigns.
• Overseeing the implementation of extensive campaigns and initiatives to reach overall campaign objectives and milestones throughout each phase of the campaign;
• Evaluating campaign execution and offering recommendations on strategic choices, including supervision of campaign operations;
• Establishing data management systems for the collection, tracking, and analysis of pertinent data to inform strategic campaign decision-making;
• Supervising the application of digital organizing strategies and platforms.
• Providing staffing for SEIU involvement in relevant governmental agencies, legislative bodies, and coalitions essential for executing campaign strategies.
• Collaborating with relevant International Union staff to determine the strategic allocation of International Union personnel and resources to facilitate the successful execution of campaigns and the overall vision and strategies of the union.
• Managing the development and administration of campaign budgets, including approving expenditures.
• Overseeing the recruitment and management of campaign staff.
• Performing additional duties as assigned to support the initiatives of the International Union Organizing Program and/or Hubs.
• A minimum of ten (10) years of external labor organizing experience, or a combination of seven (7) years of external labor organizing and two (2) years of internal labor organizing experience.
• At least eight (8) years of experience in campaign planning and management, including the development and management of multi-component campaigns.
• A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in direct supervision or team management, including leading campaign teams and staff.
• A four-year college or university degree is not mandatory but is considered an advantage. (Candidates who do not meet the minimum experience qualifications will not be considered.)
• Capability to assess and analyze key factors and conditions within a company, industry, market, and/or community to assist in the development of a campaign strategy.
• Proficiency in developing and managing comprehensive campaigns that effectively integrate and align relevant multiple components, such as field, digital, communications, research, legislative, political, etc.
• Skill in developing and/or guiding the creation of effective narrative and communication strategies.
• Ability to develop and/or guide staff in building relationships and alliances with coalition partners or allies and mobilizing community support.
• Competence in developing and/or directing the creation and execution of relevant political, legislative, or regulatory strategies and tactics.
• Ability to coordinate and manage all aspects of convening high-level leaders from multiple locals into collaborative joint structures to support the implementation of campaign strategies.
• Capacity to anticipate and evaluate campaign strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and make strategic adjustments as needed.
• Familiarity with digital platforms and tools, and their application in organizing campaigns, including directing campaign staff on basic digital engagement tools such as Zoom, PurpleText or other P2P platforms, Organizing VAN Dialer, or other direct dialer systems.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate across teams and disciplines.
• Skill in establishing campaign structures, systems, roles, and responsibilities to effectively direct and manage staff and campaign teams.
• Proficient communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to deliver formal presentations.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Proficiency in utilizing planning and time management tools and practices to effectively plan, prioritize, and manage resources and responsibilities.
• Capacity to handle multiple high-priority projects while meeting established timelines.
