CAD Designer – BESS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more locations.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with both internal and external multidisciplinary teams to develop accurate electrical engineering designs for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

• Generate comprehensive 2-D and 3-D designs primarily utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D.

• Prepare detailed drawings in accordance with project specifications and client requirements.

• Produce site plans, single line diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment elevation drawings for BESS electrical drawing packages.

• Develop site model layouts and geolocated electrical base files using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

• Coordinate efforts with internal and external multidisciplinary groups while referencing their work.

• Ensure that project drawings adhere to RRC standards, industry regulations, codes, and best practices.

• Review equipment specification sheets to determine the requirements for BESS electrical systems.

• Enhance the quality and visual appeal of deliverables, standards, best practices, SOPs, and documentation for the BESS team.

• Engage in project meetings and provide progress updates to managers, engineers, clients, and stakeholders.

• Uphold high ethical and professional standards while fostering strong client relationships.

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• At least 4 years of engineering design experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or other relevant tools.

• Required physical design experience.

• Possess excellent spatial awareness and the capability to visualize 3-D realities while designing primarily in 2-D space.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.

• Strong understanding and experience with geographic systems and/or GIS software.

• Required knowledge of low to medium voltage electrical power systems.

• Excellent technical verbal communication and writing skills.

• Ability to effectively communicate in collaborative online meetings using Microsoft Teams and Outlook for email correspondence.

• Capability to read and comprehend technical literature and specification sheets.

• Ability to interpret engineering plans, dimensioned drawings, single line diagrams, and other technical details.

• Preferred knowledge of utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS).

• Familiarity with PV (Solar), wind power, and renewable energy electrical systems is advantageous.

• Understanding of civil design including grading, roads and drainage, structural steel and concrete design, installation of PVC electrical conduit, and related construction practices is beneficial.
