CAD Designer – BESS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with both internal and external multi-disciplinary teams to develop accurate electrical engineering designs for utility-scale BESS projects.

• Generate comprehensive 2-D and 3-D designs mainly utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3-D, ensuring drawings align with project specifications and client needs.

• Produce site plans, single line diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment elevation drawings for BESS electrical drawing packages.

• Create geolocated electrical base files and site model layouts in AutoCAD C3D while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

• Ensure that project drawings comply with internal standards, industry regulations, codes, and best practices.

• Review equipment specification sheets and identify requirements for BESS electrical systems.

• Contribute to enhancing BESS team products, departmental standards, best practices, SOPs, and documentation.

• Engage in project meetings and deliver progress updates to managers, engineers, clients, and stakeholders.

• Uphold high ethical and professional standards while fostering client relationships.

• Execute other assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar engineering technology, related degree, or equivalent professional experience.

• A minimum of 4 years of engineering design experience with AutoCAD C3D or other pertinent experience.

• Experience in physical design.

• Exceptional spatial awareness and the ability to visualize 3-D reality when designing in 2-D space.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.

• Strong understanding and utilization of geographic systems and/or GIS software.

• Familiarity with low to medium voltage electrical power systems.

• Excellent technical verbal communication and technical writing abilities.

• Capability to effectively communicate with internal engineers and external clients regarding design matters.

• Proficient in conveying information during collaborative online meetings using Microsoft Teams and Outlook.

• Ability to read and comprehend technical literature, specification sheets, engineering plans, dimensioned drawings, single line diagrams, and other engineering details.

• Experience with utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) is preferred.

• Knowledge of PV/solar, wind power, and renewable energy electrical systems is advantageous.

• Understanding of civil grading, roads and drainage, structural steel and concrete design, PVC electrical conduit installation, and related construction practices is a plus.

• Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States upon hire.
