C Developer – Linux Kernel Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Lithuania.

📋 Description

• Engage in the development of essential Linux kernel subsystems, including memory management, scheduling, networking, and filesystems.

• Refine and enhance container isolation mechanisms to achieve optimal security and performance.

• Contribute to making Linux more efficient and powerful.

• Optimize resource utilization across numerous virtual machines and containers.

• Collaborate with upstream maintainers to integrate your patches into the kernel.

• Represent Virtuozzo at industry conferences such as Open Source Summit, FOSDEM, and other events organized by the Linux Foundation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in C programming skills, with a preference for low-level coding.

• Familiar with at least one kernel subsystem.

• Comfortable working with syscalls, kernel/user-space interfaces, and the internal workings of Linux.

• Experience in debugging using tools like kprobes, ftrace, perf, gdb, or any other methodologies that assist in bug resolution.

• Ability to effectively communicate your ideas in English, whether during code reviews or conference presentations.

• Preferred: Experience with open-source projects (do you have a GitHub or LKML link? We’d love to see it).

• Extensive understanding of namespaces, cgroups, or KVM.

• Proficient in Python scripting for tooling, automation, or test harness development.

• Knowledgeable about DevOps pipelines that involve container technologies or kernel builds.
