Business Systems Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Guide the assessment and specification of intricate business and system requirements for cross-functional projects, integrations, and enhancements affecting Premium Accounting.

• Convert business requirements into detailed functional designs, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and data specifications that facilitate scalable and sustainable solutions.

• Manage requirements and functional design documentation throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring traceability, clarity, and alignment from inception through execution and stabilization.

• Act as a reliable advisor to business and technology partners regarding system capabilities, limitations, trade-offs, and possible solutions.

• Evaluate system performance, data flows, and operational processes to uncover root causes, risks, and opportunities for automation, standardization, and efficiency enhancements.

• Direct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) strategy and execution for complex projects, including test planning, coordination, defect management, and outcome validation.

• Utilize artificial intelligence tools (such as Microsoft Copilot and approved GenAI platforms) to improve analysis, expedite documentation, assist in testing, identify trends, and reveal insights.

• Assess emerging technologies, tools, and system capabilities pertinent to business systems analysis, offering informed recommendations aligned with business goals.

• Establish and advocate for best practices in business systems analysis, documentation, and testing within the team or functional area.

• Mentor and provide informal guidance to Business Systems Analysts and Senior Analysts through review of deliverables and knowledge sharing.

• Create and maintain high-quality documentation, training materials, and knowledge resources to support adoption, operational readiness, and ongoing assistance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally, 7–9 years of experience in business systems analysis, business analysis, or a related field.

• Proven experience in leading complex, multi-system or cross-functional projects.

• Strong familiarity with financial, accounting, insurance, or transaction-based operational systems is preferred.

• Bachelor's degree is required. A degree in Business, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.

• Certification as a Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA), Project Management Professional (PMP), or other relevant certifications is strongly preferred.
