Business Operations Manager

Posted 1 hour ago

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of a significant aspect of operations from start to finish — and create the tools, automations, and playbooks that enable our network to expand without increasing headcount.

• You will manage the daily operations of the platform: ensuring that tickets are resolved within service level agreements (SLAs), reconciling data across systems, tracking down orders that are overlooked, holding warehouses and carriers accountable to their SLAs, and transforming recurring operational challenges into lasting solutions (often in the form of a Claude skill or agent, a Retool dashboard, or a Make automation that you develop yourself).

• Maintain operational integrity: Reconcile the Bezos Platform, WMS, and Operations Dashboard on a daily basis; identify and address missing, stalled, or mismatched orders before sellers become aware.

• Ensure accountability within the network: Monitor warehouse and carrier performance against SLAs; pursue, escalate, and reconcile invoices in alignment with rate cards.

• Construct efficient systems: Replace manual, repetitive tasks with Claude skills/agents, automations, and dashboards to enhance team productivity without increasing headcount.

• Close the loop with sellers: Quickly resolve operational tickets, identify root causes, and implement upstream fixes to prevent recurrence.

• Achievements in your first 90 days: Take charge of daily cross-system reconciliation and reduce the number of unresolved order exceptions to nearly zero. Deliver at least one automation, Claude skill, or agent that eliminates a recurring manual task from the team's schedule. Assume responsibility for a segment of the warehouse/carrier portfolio: independently conduct performance reviews and invoice reconciliations. Influence at least one company OKR (dispatch rate, contact rate, or resolution time) positively and present your findings in the weekly metrics review.

⛳️ Requirements

• AI-native: More than just using a chat interface. You have utilized Claude (or a similar tool) to create autonomous systems: skills, agents, or automated workflows. This is not limited to simple conversations; you can showcase what you have built, its autonomous functions, and where human intervention is necessary. This is a strict requirement, and we will request a demonstration.

• Independent operator: You possess the ability to tackle challenges on your own and manage complex issues from start to finish with minimal guidance (you consistently anticipate needs and can take ownership of a Key Result).

• Numerically adept and analytical: A degree (or demonstrable equivalent experience) in a quantitative field such as engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or a highly quantitative economics/finance/social science discipline. We are looking for analytical capability, not just the name of the degree.

• Proven track record of measurable results: You can cite specific, quantified achievements you have accomplished, such as reducing costs, improving KPIs, or speeding up processes, rather than just listing responsibilities.

• A creator: You don’t merely identify broken processes; you resolve them permanently by building the necessary tools, overseeing their development, or redesigning workflows. Evidence of systems, automations, dashboards, or playbooks that others rely on is essential.

• Thrives in startup environments: You excel in uncertain situations, act swiftly, take ownership of outcomes, and prefer a broad scope of responsibilities over a narrow focus.

• Effective communicator: You write clearly, present findings in a straightforward manner, and guide people on the next steps rather than just pointing out issues.

• Nice-to-haves: Experience in e-commerce, logistics, third-party logistics (3PL), or supply chain management. Familiarity with light coding (Python/SQL/JavaScript) or no-code tools (Make, Zapier, Retool, Airtable). Experience working with external partners or vendors in alignment with SLAs. Background in mentoring, training, or managing 1-2 individuals.

🏝️ Benefits

• Work within a genuinely AI-native team. Regularly create with Claude, Retool, and Make, backed by a real budget and the autonomy to automate your own role.

• The opportunity to shape your position in a rapidly growing, innovative company at the forefront of the future of e-commerce.

• A workplace that is entrepreneurial, fast-paced, focused on outcomes and disciplined, yet highly collaborative, team-oriented, and enjoyable.

• Significant potential for professional growth and personal development, along with the chance to make a substantial impact.

• The team operates fully remotely, with in-person meetings scheduled a couple of times each month.

• 25 vacation days plus 8 public holidays.

• Mental health support through Spill, in addition to a complimentary Headspace subscription.
