Business Intelligence Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Korea.

📋 Description

• Manage database clusters and create analytical reports for a major customer account.

• Collaborate with customer business teams to gather requirements and either create or update BI reports.

• Oversee and ensure the health of database clusters is maintained at optimal levels.

• Execute daily data center operations in a high-availability production setting.

• Monitor, pinpoint, and guide potential issues to resolution; escalate matters beyond your expertise to Customer Support.

• Provide status updates and coordinate further investigative efforts until resolution is achieved.

• Design and maintain dashboards utilizing Superset and Tableau.

• Create dashboards for traffic, application performance, Quality of Experience (QoE), regional analysis, subscriber metrics, and service-level evaluations.

• Detect trends, anomalies, and performance decline through data analysis.

• Enhance dashboards and develop analytical reports tailored to customer specifications.

• Spot opportunities for automating repetitive analytical tasks.

• Partner with customer Network Operations, Engineering, and business teams.

• Communicate technical insights and recommendations to customers.

• Work in conjunction with Customer Support, Engineering, Product Management, and internal teams.

• Conduct daily health assessments and generate status reports on deployed systems.

• Suggest and assist with modifications to policy/ruleset and system configurations.

• Address identified issues and carry out diagnostic trend analyses.

• Coordinate communication and prioritization for Priority 1 support and maintenance cases.

• Maintain solution documentation, including Low Level Design and product inventory.

• Share knowledge-transfer information regarding solution capabilities and operational best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound understanding of IP networking, TCP/IP protocols, and data communication technologies across both wireline networks (Cable, DSL, FTTH) and wireless networks (Satellite, Wi-Fi, LTE, 4G, and 5G).

• Practical experience with Linux/Unix environments, SQL, relational databases, and the operation and optimization of databases using platforms such as Vertica, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle Database.

• Familiarity with data mining, ETL processes, and managing large-scale, complex datasets within telecom environments.

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, along with the capacity to effectively communicate technical issues to customers and internal engineering teams.

• Experience in one or more of the following domains: Telecom/ISP/Network Operator environments; Network Operations and Monitoring; Application Performance and QoE; Network Traffic Analysis; DPI/Network Intelligence; Database Operations; BI/Data Analytics (Tableau or Superset); Network packet analysis (Wireshark/tcpdump); Scripting (Python/Bash).

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in a relevant technical domain.

• Experience in customer-facing roles.

• Preferred: Experience working with Tier-1 telecommunications service providers, particularly with exposure to 4G/5G, FTTH, or other telecom network technologies.

• Preferred: Proficiency in Python-based data analysis and scripting, with knowledge of Vertica or similar analytical database platforms.

• Preferred: Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and web technologies.

• Preferred: Experience with containerization, virtualization, and cloud environments, such as Docker, Kubernetes, VMware, KVM, AWS, or similar technologies.

• Preferred: Understanding of network monitoring and performance management tools like SNMP, MRTG, PRTG, or similar solutions, along with knowledge of ITIL, incident management, and change management practices.

• Excellent English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with globally distributed engineering teams.

• Availability for occasional extended hours or split shifts may be necessary.
