• Provide business development expertise to country leadership and proposal teams in positioning, capture planning, and proposal development for specific opportunities with institutional donors.
• Oversee the pre-positioning, capture, and proposal development processes to guarantee timely execution and submission of high-quality proposals.
• Act as proposal coordinator and offer guidance on opportunity analysis, lead go/no-go decisions, capture planning, and coordinate partner inputs and proposal review panels.
• Serve as a lead or support writer on proposals, contributing both technical and non-technical content while integrating inputs from staff and partners into a cohesive, responsive proposal with a compelling vision and clear win themes.
• Function as budget lead or assist the lead in creating proposal budgets. Provide recommendations to enhance the competitiveness of the proposal as needed.
• Guide and advise on partner identification and negotiate CRS’ role within proposal consortia to ensure a competitive stance for CRS.
• Collaborate with senior management and donor engagement focal points to formulate a resource mobilization strategy.
• Research, track, and analyze new opportunities and CRS’ competitive position in the marketplace.
• Lead and/or support the development of CRS business development tools, resources, and guidance on best practices and approaches throughout the business development cycle.
• Train and mentor staff, as necessary, to enhance their skills across the CRS business development cycle.
• Bachelor's degree in international development, international relations, or a related field.
• Minimum of eight years of experience in international development.
• A Master's degree in international development, international relations, or a related field is preferred.
• At least three years of experience in a developing country.
• Proven experience employing diverse, proactive strategies to competitively position an organization for new funding and productive institutional relationships.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and producing competitive proposals in programming contexts similar to CRS.
• Familiarity with both grants and contract funding mechanisms.
• Proven experience in leading project teams and processes to deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
• Experience providing remote support to diverse teams.
• Background in developing content for and facilitating training related to key business development practices, with knowledge of adult learning methodologies.
• Fluency in English is required; working proficiency in Spanish and/or French is preferred.
