Business Development Representative – One-on-One Advising

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage in high-volume outbound prospecting through phone calls, emails, and other channels to attract prospective families and stimulate interest in Kaplan's admissions consulting services.

• Assess inbound leads from marketing initiatives, web inquiries, webinars, and referrals to determine fit, intent, and readiness for consultations.

• Arrange qualified consultations for the Senior Advising Manager team, ensuring seamless transitions and providing accurate context regarding family objectives, student profiles, and timelines.

• Research and identify potential families, schools, community partners, and referral sources to continually broaden the top of the funnel and discover new pipeline opportunities.

• Maintain up-to-date and precise records in CRM systems, documenting all outreach efforts, family interactions, and lead status updates to ensure visibility and data integrity in the pipeline.

• Achieve and surpass activity and outcome goals, which include outbound contacts, conversations held, qualified meetings scheduled, and contributions to revenue targets.

• Collaborate with team members to provide feedback on lead quality, messaging effectiveness, and conversion trends, contributing to the refinement of campaigns and optimization of lead generation strategies.

• Follow up consistently and persistently with prospective families using multi-touch sequences, nurturing interest and re-engaging cold or stalled leads to enhance conversion rates.

• Remain informed about Kaplan's advising offerings, the K12 and college admissions landscape, and competitive positioning to clearly articulate value and address initial family inquiries with credibility.

• Maintain Kaplan's standards of professionalism and integrity by adopting a student- and family-focused approach in every interaction, fostering trust and a positive first impression of the brand.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Education, or a related discipline.

• At least 1 year of experience in a sales development, inside sales, customer engagement, admissions, or similar outreach role, preferably within an educational or high-touch service environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with a knack for quickly building rapport and articulating value to families.

• Comfort with high-volume outreach, including cold calling, email prospecting, and multi-channel sequences.

• Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and sales engagement tools.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the capacity to manage a substantial pipeline and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Resilience, coachability, and a growth mindset; capable of handling objections and rejection while maintaining momentum.

• Curiosity and active listening skills to accurately identify family needs and qualify fit.
