This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Oversee business development and project development initiatives for intricate Energy Services projects within Duke Energy’s regulated territories.
• Create customer-centric energy infrastructure solutions, such as backup/standby generation, resiliency systems, distributed generation, temporary/bridge power, and turnkey or Energy-as-a-Service offerings.
• Propel opportunities from the initial customer interaction through the internal funding approval process, transitioning to construction and operations teams.
• Identify and assess opportunities in the industrial, commercial, and governmental sectors.
• Collaborate with customers to comprehend operational requirements and formulate technical scopes.
• Sustain strategic partnerships with contractors, vendors, developers, and essential stakeholders.
• Formulate project budgets, timelines, development strategies, and capital estimates.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance design and constructability.
• Structure, negotiate, and finalize commercial agreements.
• Lead due diligence in environmental, safety, technical, financial, and regulatory aspects.
• Prepare and submit proposals for competitive procurement opportunities.
• Act as the project sponsor throughout the internal governance process.
• Coordinate with engineering, regulatory, real estate, legal, finance, and operations departments.
• Contribute to market evaluations, RFP strategies, acquisitions, and the development of new products.
• Incorporate safety, environmental compliance, permitting, and hazard awareness into project planning.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, leadership, customers, and community representatives.
• Influence both internal teams and external partners to navigate project challenges.
• Represent Energy Services through various forms of communication, including written, verbal, and public-facing interactions.
• Travel 15–25% to customer sites, partner locations, and project areas.
• Business Development Manager II: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field with 10 years of relevant work experience.
• Alternative for Business Development Manager II: High School diploma/GED with 14 years of relevant work experience in place of a bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience.
• Business Development Manager III: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field with 12 years of relevant work experience.
• Alternative for Business Development Manager III: High School diploma/GED with 16 years of relevant work experience in place of a bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience.
• Strong written and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Skills in problem-solving, negotiation, project management, and implementation.
• Capacity to work independently while leading cross-functional teams.
