
Business Development Manager – Branded Fuel Sales

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Seek opportunities for branded and unbranded gasoline and diesel in the designated market.
• Cultivate and strengthen relationships with business customers receiving deliveries.
• Incorporate feasibility studies into organizational and marketing strategies aimed at acquiring new business.
• Enhance existing relationships and develop new business connections.
• Ensure excellent customer service and maintain rapport with current and prospective clients.
• Assess industry market trends and changes in branded programs.
• Collaborate with the sales manager to formulate deals that achieve return-on-investment objectives.
• Analyze competitors to uncover potential and lost business opportunities.
• Lead sales initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, such as owners, councils, and boards of directors.
• Conduct cold calls to potential customers, deliver formal proposals, negotiate terms, and secure long-term exclusive contracts.
• Initiate the contract renewal process with customers within two years of contract expiration.
• Apply a consultative, relationship-driven sales approach to address business challenges.
• Evaluate key accounts and prospects, measuring purchasing volumes against established goals.
• Develop the sales territory to achieve profitability, volume, margin, product-line goals, and market penetration.
• Keep customers informed about pricing updates.
• Create marketing and promotional materials to enhance sales.
• Monitor and assess competition within the territory.
• Travel to customer locations to sell products and services, build relationships, and resolve issues.
• Identify customer needs for new products and services and introduce offerings to existing accounts.
• Generate profitable business through both inbound and outbound customer communications.
• Inform sales team about leads, orders, and quotations.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of company products.
• Assist in customer visits and dealer business operations.
• Meet sales and profitability targets.
• Keep detailed records of customer contacts, accounts, and sales opportunities.
• Update Salesforce CRM following each visit.
• Uphold safety standards and adhere to government compliance, as well as company policies and procedures.
• Provide assistance with contracts related to Assignments & Assumptions, Third Party Lease Agreements, and amendments.
• Support territory marketing campaigns that highlight brand options.
• Commit to continuous improvement and quality control initiatives.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and learning.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned.
• 0–5 years of demonstrated outside sales experience in relevant products.
• Minimum of two years of experience in sales or customer service within the related industry.
• A degree in Business Administration or a related field is advantageous.
• Proven ability to secure new business through cold calling.
• Self-motivated and action-oriented with strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.
• Professional representation of the organization is essential.
• Ability to convey information positively.
• Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Capacity to foster positive business relationships.
• Exceptional communication and listening abilities.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel locally on a daily basis and overnight up to 20% of the time.
• Must be authorized to work full-time in the United States without sponsorship from U.S. Venture.
