This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The Business Development Manager for AWG / Iowa will be accountable for achieving the ongoing objectives related to Merchandising, Assortment, Pricing, and Rotation set for each fiscal year for AWG, Fareway, and Hy Vee.
• Meet Fiscal Year Financial goals by delivering key financial metrics in alignment with the AOP sales plan and a coordinated trade spend strategy.
• Establish customer-specific objectives that support Del Monte’s overarching strategic plan.
• Attain new item, assortment, pricing, and merchandising goals defined for particular customer targets.
• Provide updates and insights to internal Del Monte cross-functional teams, offering a tailored approach to product development, merchandising, and promotional strategies.
• Lead the development of specific categories by utilizing cross-functional resources such as Category Insights, Shopper Marketing, Customer Finance, and Business Intelligence Analytics to enhance volume and market share.
• Oversee business forecasting and input into the trade planning system.
• Ensure that expenditures, deductions, and financials align with planned budgets.
• Collaborate with Del Monte and the supply chain teams of AWG, Fareway, and Hy Vee to ensure the successful launch of new items, promotional activities, and scorecard opportunities.
• Organize and participate in sales, review, and innovation presentations at suitable levels within AWG, Hy Vee, and Fareway.
• Establish a regular meeting schedule with Buyers and Category Managers, facilitating discussions with customer cross-functional teams as needed to support Del Monte initiatives (Supply Chain, Accounting, Finance).
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 5-7 years of retail sales experience in the consumer-packaged goods industry, working with customers at a regional or headquarters level.
• Proven track record in directing and executing all components of the fiscal year sales plan: Develop and implement a strategic business plan to achieve profitable volume growth annually.
• Set customer priorities, objectives, and strategies informed by market conditions.
• Manage retail execution to assure optimal product placement.
• Review Del Monte GTMS with customers to ensure understanding and compliance.
• Provide strategic insights that reflect customer requirements and integrate them into the AOP planning process, focusing on trade marketing strategies and tactics to deliver a plan that meets company objectives.
• Identify and understand customer needs and effectively collaborate with CS&D to customize plans that align with the customer's strategic vision while maximizing growth opportunities.
• Oversee all aspects of trade spending to guarantee that Del Monte funds are effectively allocated in accordance with promotional strategies to meet merchandising goals.
• Manage trade funds to ensure that additional volume and profits are generated from expenditures.
• Conduct post-promotional analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of promotions and adjust strategies as necessary to enhance outcomes.
• Handle LUA funds for designated categories.
• Evaluate and pursue innovative growth opportunities and strategies during the trade planning phase, present these to Team Lead & CS&D for alignment, and incorporate them into the JBP.
• Manage business operations based on a strategic scorecard aligned with the customer, focusing on mutually beneficial growth, conducting quarterly reviews, correcting course as needed, and proactively managing business relationships.
• Coordinate internal resources to address promotion-related deductions and forecast promotional demand.
• Utilize cross-functional support groups (Customer Finance, Supply Chain, Category Insights, CS&D) to foster growth, provide insights, and enhance customer service.
• Analyze customer, category, and channel data to derive insights, solutions, and recommendations for driving profitable growth for both the customer and Del Monte.
• Maintain and develop relationships with Publix and frozen distributors to ensure effective execution of sales plans.
• Exhibit proactivity, organization, and initiative through changing circumstances and uncertain environments.
• Demonstrated success in the retail grocery industry, particularly in dealings with Publix, and experience in consumer-packaged goods or distributor management.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to influence customer contacts effectively.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, familiar with syndicated data, and competent in PowerPoint.
