This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Identify and seek out new business opportunities, including the expansion into new markets and sectors.
• Establish and nurture robust relationships with both existing and potential clients, comprehensively understanding their needs and delivering value-added solutions.
• Collaborate with various departments, such as marketing, product development, and operations, to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives.
• Analyze market trends, competitive environments, and customer feedback to uncover opportunities for growth and enhancement.
• Stay informed about industry advancements, regulations, and best practices to guide sales strategies and decision-making.
• Work directly with new clients to foster and manage business growth by cultivating strong relationships with operating departments and different management levels.
• Attain a deep understanding of customers and the industries they operate in, conducting market analysis and evaluating the competitive landscape, including 1, 3, and 5-year industry trend projections.
• Devise and implement strategies to enhance customer penetration by offering additional products and services across all customer divisions.
• Establish strategic goals and tactical plans to achieve significant growth while fostering a culture of success and rewards.
• Actively engage at customer locations to secure incremental business through proactive business development, necessitating the establishment of strong relationships with various management levels.
• Periodic international travel may be required to collaboratively explore opportunities in foreign markets.
• Collaborate closely with customer engineers and purchasing departments to ensure product and design requirements are effectively identified.
• Partner with Boyd Engineering to oversee the design and development of customer solutions.
• Showcase and demonstrate products and solutions using prototypes, samples, and marketing materials, offering value-added guidance to clients.
• Leverage knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to illustrate and highlight Boyd’s value propositions.
• Oversee the quotation process. In conjunction with the Sales Operations Team, conduct a technical review of engineering drawings and specifications, gathering and preparing necessary information for formal quotations, including drawings, sample parts, technical data, volumes, and material sources for submission to Boyd Estimating.
• Manage the preparation of formal quotation packages with pricing aimed at maximizing revenue while also enhancing Gross Margin.
• Alongside the Sales Operations Team, monitor and manage project progress to successfully meet customer milestones and production schedules, from inception to implementation.
• Engage with clients on all commercial matters, including credit and shipping terms, legal requirements, payments, and more.
• Manage aspects of the relationship in accordance with the terms and conditions of agreements, as well as negotiate new agreements in collaboration with Boyd management.
• Respond to special customer needs or complaints as necessary.
• Utilize the Salesforce CRM package daily to record all business opportunities, customer insights, wins, and losses. Use this and other tools to communicate opportunities and current status frequently and transparently to colleagues and management.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• 7 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical sales role with a proven history of success in the manufacturing sector.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build rapport and negotiate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker with a results-driven approach and a focus on fostering business growth.
• Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute sales strategies, including market analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Experience using CRM software and other sales tools to monitor performance and manage customer relationships.
