This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• The Business Development Director is responsible for formulating, executing, and overseeing a market-centric strategy aimed at boosting revenue in the German region, with potential involvement in other European markets based on demand.
• Market Intelligence & Insight - The Business Development Director is anticipated to be a subject matter authority on market dynamics in Germany, particularly concentrating on Data Centre Development and Hyperscale expansion to devise a strategy that encourages targeted investment.
• Network Development & Investment - Discover both organic and inorganic opportunities to enhance Zayo Europe's reach and capabilities across metro and long-haul networks.
• Accountable for supporting sales-driven directives and self-identified strategic investment prospects through Zayo Europe’s internal approval processes, including ensuring the necessary revenue streams to back each case.
• Strategic Partnerships – Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to collaborate with data centres, cloud service providers, carriers, government entities, public sector organizations, and real estate partners.
• Revenue Growth Initiatives - Contribute to the creation of programmatic initiatives that will drive multiple revenue streams across newly connected Data Centres and expanded assets.
• Customer & Deal Pursuit - Actively engage with field sales directors and teams to assist in sales pursuits from opportunity identification to closure.
• This position is responsible for both facilitating and driving engagement within the sales team through education, targeted support, executive-level presentations, and other necessary tools and methods to ensure the organization achieves its assigned sales targets.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Finance, or Economics, or equivalent work experience.
• A minimum of 8+ years’ experience in sales, business development, product management, account management, or sales engineering, including familiarity with business customer applications in dark fibre, fibre optic construction, and network services.
• Strong understanding of the cloud, colocation, and data centre ecosystem.
• Good knowledge of the regulated industry (Government, Utilities) processes for contracting services.
• Comprehensive understanding of Fibre, Transport, and Layer 3 Services (Dark Fiber, Private Dedicated Networks, Fiber Construction Services, Wavelengths, Ethernet, IP Transit, and Cloud Interconnection).
• Sound business judgment, a proven ability to influence others, and strong analytical thinking skills are essential for success in this role.
• Familiarity with the fibre business and prior experience working on fibre lease or IRU contracts.
• Ability to communicate effectively with various functional teams, along with strong interpersonal skills for supporting and advising sales teams on appropriate systems and processes.
• Proficient PC skills, including MS Office and CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).
• Strong business acumen.
• Language proficiency: German and English. Additional European languages are a plus, though not mandatory.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving abilities with the capacity to address customer issues or seek appropriate internal resources to facilitate resolution.
• Capable of multitasking, providing customer service, and troubleshooting issues.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
