Building Consultant – General Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho.

📋 Description

• Promptly receive and respond to assignments, typically scheduling inspections within 24 hours.

• Conduct comprehensive onsite property evaluations, often with engineers, within 7 days of assignment.

• Access rooftops, crawlspaces, and other challenging environments to carry out thorough assessments.

• Prepare detailed photo reports, cost estimates using Xactimate or similar software, and written reports within 7 days following the inspection.

• Collaborate with Keystone’s Managing Building Consultant during the review and approval process.

• Address report feedback within 24 hours.

• Occasionally travel to conduct evaluations for CAT (Catastrophe) events.

• Take part in joint inspections.

• Communicate effectively with policyholders, engineers, and claims adjusters.

• Serve as an expert witness and provide credible testimony when necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in general contracting, construction, home remodeling, mitigation, or similar fields.

• Possession of a previous or current contractor’s license, if mandated in your state.

• Hands-on experience with insurance-related repairs or claims estimating.

• Proficiency in construction estimating methods, including time & materials and software-based systems.

• Familiarity or proficiency with Xactimate (desktop & mobile), Symbility, Matterport, DocuSketch, and Hover.

• Prior experience in preparing estimates and proposals, particularly for large-loss projects.

• IICRC certification and/or mitigation contracting experience is a plus.

• Strong written communication skills for creating detailed, professional reports.

• Capability and willingness to travel for field inspections and CAT events.

• Physical ability to conduct inspections, including accessing roofs and crawl spaces.

• Experience providing expert testimony, depositions, or writing published industry articles is a plus.

• Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines.
