Build Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design, execution, and continuous enhancement of build and release systems for various products.

• Create and sustain CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and deployment processes.

• Enhance development workflows utilizing Bamboo, Jira, and other Atlassian tools.

• Construct, optimize, and troubleshoot connections between build systems, issue tracking applications, source control, and associated engineering platforms.

• Collaborate with developers, QA professionals, producers, and technical leadership to identify inefficiencies and enhance development productivity.

• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and effective automation code and configurations.

• Diagnose and enhance build performance, infrastructure reliability, and pipeline stability across various environments.

• Engage in technical discussions, the complete development lifecycle, technical planning, and delivery within an agile setting.

• Aid in the integration of modern tools, AI-assisted workflows, and scalable infrastructure practices.

• Contribute to technical documentation, process enhancements, engineering best practices, tooling strategies, pipeline strategies, and server architecture discussions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in build engineering, DevOps, release engineering, software infrastructure, or a related discipline.

• Proven experience in supporting or enhancing CI/CD pipelines and automated build systems.

• Familiarity with Bamboo and Jira within a software development context.

• Experience or exposure to integrating Jira and other Atlassian tools into engineering workflows.

• General knowledge of software delivery processes, build workflows, release practices, and dependency management.

• Proficiency with source/version control systems, such as Git.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to navigate technical challenges with guidance when necessary.

• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively on time-sensitive projects.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Successful completion of a background check.

• Must not require sponsorship for work authorization in the United States.

• Bonus: experience with Azure Pipelines or other contemporary CI/CD platforms.

• Bonus: experience in enhancing legacy build systems or transitioning workflows to modern tooling stacks.

• Bonus: interest in AI-enabled tooling.

• Bonus: experience with Unity build pipelines, Unity Package Manager, and command-line scripts.

• Bonus: experience with telemetry systems, extensive data workflows, or data-intensive technical environments.

• Bonus: understanding of large data management and telemetry concepts.

• Bonus: experience supporting teams across diverse products, platforms, or technical stacks.

• Bonus: understanding of Unity shader pipelines, Forward+ rendering, shader keyword management, and variant stripping.

• Bonus: familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
