Broadband Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage in the design, setup, enhancement, and troubleshooting of IQ Fiber’s core and access networks.

• Assist field engineers in the rollout and expansion of IQ Fiber’s cutting-edge FTTP broadband delivery network.

• Appropriately escalate critical network issues to the Technical Operations and Outside Plant (OSP) teams.

• Configure, manage, and enhance network monitoring and alerting systems.

• Provide recommendations for improving the performance and functionality of the IQ Fiber network based on data analysis.

• Develop and manage detailed, technical MOPs (Methods of Procedure) to support the maintenance and upgrades of network equipment.

• Implement and support public Wi-Fi network services.

• Aid in the administration and maintenance of Linux and Windows servers and applications.

• Deliver tier 3 technical support as part of the IQ Fiber Network Operations Center (NOC).

• Serve as a resource for tier 2 technicians in delivering technical support for residential and business broadband services.

• Support the NOC supervisor in optimizing the NOC's performance.

• Assist in diagnosing and resolving advanced networking and Wi-Fi issues.

• Participate in an on-call rotation with a small team of Network Engineers.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in a network engineer role.

• Over 2 years of experience with Juniper MX and QFX product lines.

• Experience in deploying and managing a Service Provider network (JNCIS-SP, JNCIP-SP, or Nokia SRC certification is a plus).

• Familiarity with Nokia 7750 routers and related SR OS configurations.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in telecommunications or networking preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience with fiber optics, GPON, and XGS-PON.

• Proficient in BGP, MPLS, DHCP, VLANs, Static and Dynamic Routing Protocols, VPNs, VRRP, and ERPS.

• Linux administration skills are an advantage.

• Other networking-related certifications are beneficial (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, Network+).

• Ability to exercise considerable independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in daily responsibilities.

• Basic understanding of telecommunications systems and operations.

• Capability to read, analyze, and interpret technical requirements, methods of procedures, and product data sheets.

• Proficiency in using inductive reasoning techniques to troubleshoot system problems effectively.

• Demonstrated cultural competence to interact effectively, work with, and build meaningful relationships with individuals from diverse identities, perspectives, and cultural backgrounds.

• Strong orientation towards learning.

• Ability to utilize resources creatively and engage in self-learning to adapt to evolving issues and trends.
