Board Member

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Ensure that HOT fulfills its mission for public benefit while maintaining accountability.

• Participate in or lead board committees, aiding in the long-term vision, strategic direction, and financial well-being.

• Contribute to financial governance by reviewing financial data, models, and plans.

• Uphold HOT’s culture and core values.

• Provide advice to the leadership team and board members on matters pertinent to your expertise, particularly concerning HOT’s business development strategy.

• Represent HOT at external events and meetings as needed.

• Perform additional tasks to enhance board effectiveness.

• Act as an ambassador for HOT, prioritizing the organization's best interests.

• Exhibit personal and professional behavior that upholds HOT’s reputation.

• Ensure confidentiality regarding personal and commercially sensitive information.

• Notify the board of any situations that could potentially lead to conflicts of interest or reputational risks.

• Extensive knowledge in financial sustainability and innovative or hybrid business models.

• Proven experience in leading mission-driven organizations through phases of growth and strategic transformation.

• Strong enthusiasm for the role of technology, data, and open systems in supporting humanitarian and climate resilience efforts.

• Experience in crafting mission-aligned market strategies, including planning, monitoring, and evaluation tools.

• Proven track record in building and scaling strategic partnerships, client relationships, or funding pipelines that foster mission-driven growth.

• Experience in leading organizations that integrate philanthropy and earned revenue for sustainable impact, including business model development and risk management.

• Background in the social impact and/or humanitarian sector within one or more of HOT’s priority regions.

• A positive and adaptable approach to problem-solving.

• Commitment to the highest standards of integrity and conduct.
