Board Member

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Advocate for and promote the mission of the organization.

• Act as an ambassador for the organization to garner various types of support, which includes recruiting new Board and Committee Members and securing financial contributions by: Engaging in organization-sponsored events and activities; Effectively communicating the organization's purpose through interactions with the network, public, media, legislative bodies, and other relevant organizations; Contributing to fundraising initiatives with personally significant donations, which may include time, financial support, and/or in-kind contributions; Identifying and reaching out to potential funders at the individual, corporate, and foundation levels, as needed, to help ensure financial backing for the organization’s mission and vision.

• Stay updated on current issues and trends impacting children.

• Oversee operational activities of the organization, which involve: Supporting and annually evaluating the Executive Director; Setting and regularly reviewing organizational goals and objectives; Developing, implementing, and monitoring the Strategic Plan; Acting as a fiduciary in approving and overseeing the operating budget while ensuring compliance with all fiscal policies; Serving as the governing body in approving policies and procedures; Ensuring adherence to all local, state, and national regulations; Conducting an annual self-assessment; Electing officers; and Performing other responsibilities as outlined by the organization's Bylaws and Policies.

• Attend and engage in meetings, ensuring participation in at least 80% of Board Meetings and the Annual in-person Board Retreat.

• Actively participate in at least one standing Board Committee.

• Arrive punctually to meetings, well-prepared and ready to engage in constructive and professional discussions.

• Be available for continuous Board training.

• Commit to serving a minimum term of two years.
