Billing Specialist – Insurance Credit Balance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Identify and examine professional billing credit balances to ensure accuracy and resolution.

• Execute routine adjustments to credit balances and process refund requests in accordance with established policies.

• Investigate basic overpayments stemming from duplicate payments, posting errors, or payer processing issues.

• Document all actions taken and escalate complex issues as per guidelines.

• Uphold productivity and quality standards.

• Carry out additional tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must live and work full-time in AR, KS, MO, OK, or TX prior to their first day of employment.

• Level 1: A High School Diploma or GED is required.

• Level 1: Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical insurance credit resolution is required.

• Level 1: No certification, license, or registration is needed.

• Level 2: A High School Diploma or GED is required.

• Level 2: A minimum of 3 years of experience in medical insurance credit resolution is required.

• Level 2: CPB certification must be obtained within 1 year.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting EOBs.

• Familiarity with EMR systems; experience with EPIC is preferred.

• Background in billing and collections for medical facilities.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• Foundational understanding of professional billing account structures and payment workflows.

• Capability to follow unit-defined workflows and consistently apply policies.

• Knowledge of explanation of benefits (EOB) and insurance reimbursement methodologies.
