This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Ensure that physician services are billed promptly to secure maximum reimbursement.

• Utilize available technology to efficiently manage unpaid claims and payments.

• Follow up on denied claims, claim edits, and rejections to ensure timely resubmission.

• Read and comprehend explanations of benefits to execute medical billing tasks.

• Input all charges within 24–48 hours upon receipt from physicians/providers.

• Update patient account information, including address, name, telephone number, and insurance modifications.

• Dispatch electronic claims daily and paper claims on a weekly basis.

• Review and address claim edits and rejections on a daily basis.

• Issue patient statements monthly or weekly, depending on volume.

• Process insurance and patient payments within 24–48 hours of receipt, ensuring daily balancing.

• Address denials upon receipt and prepare and dispatch appeals.

• Initiate insurance follow-up at 31 days for claims.

• Respond to telephone inquiries related to medical billing.

• Submit copies of overpaid accounts to the Billing Manager for evaluation.

• Manage patient accounts receivable in accordance with practice policies.

• Forward accounts to collections as per practice policies.

• Uphold strict confidentiality of patient protected health information.

• Handle electronic claims submissions and remittance posting processes.

• Scan practice records to client folders on company network drives.

• Undertake additional tasks as requested by upper management.


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• At least 1 year of experience in medical billing.

• Proficient in accounts receivable follow-up.

• Multi-specialty experience preferred.

• Familiarity with medical billing systems.

• Experience handling unpaid claims for insurance payers, Medicare, Medicaid, and Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.

• Previous experience in a customer service role.

• Capability to meet deadlines and production targets while working under pressure.

• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow oral and written instructions along with various practice policies.

• Professional communication skills with patients and colleagues regarding medical billing inquiries.

• Clear and concise communication using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation in notes and emails.

• Strong multitasking abilities.

• Proficient in operating a telephone system.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Word, and Excel.

• General familiarity with computers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, and related office equipment.

• Ability to sit for extended periods while viewing screens and typing for prolonged durations.

• Occasionally lift files or paper weighing up to 20 lbs.
