This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Acts as a messenger and representative of faith, mission, and purpose.
• Engages with companies, their employees, and the community in a way that reflects strong character through personal and spiritual practices.
• Conducts regular brief visits to company worksites (typically on a weekly basis) to connect with employees and foster a trustworthy and friendly relationship, driven by the Chaplain’s profound Christian faith.
• Provides support to employees or their immediate family members in locations where care can be offered, such as hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, family residences, or other sites.
• May offer confidential pastoral guidance for employees and their immediate family members on various issues, including family matters, divorce, serious health concerns, care of aging parents, grief recovery, parenting challenges, financial situations that may involve debt discussions, budgeting, and other life issues related to financial stress, as well as any personal matters.
• Acts as a referral service and coordinator for specialized assistance for employees and/or immediate family members with specific needs.
• May assist in planning, conducting, or attending funerals for employees or their immediate family members, providing follow-up support and encouragement to families during the grieving process.
• Might make visits to jails for employees and their immediate family members.
• Collaborates with companies to communicate notifications of death and serious injuries to families and other employees, offering support to those affected by various tragedies.
• May provide post-termination care for laid-off or terminated employees to facilitate a smooth transition to a new work environment.
• May facilitate, but not lead, spiritual enrichment activities, as employee-sponsored and led initiatives are generally more effective than those led by a chaplain.
• Provides literature and additional resources as appropriate or requested to assist company employees with life challenges.
• Represents companies to clients/customers when relevant to ministry services involved (e.g., serious illness, accidents, traumatic events, and funerals).
• Participates in new employee orientation to outline the Employee Care Service and the role of the Chaplain Team.
• With permission from the Executive Director of Operations (EDO), responds positively and assertively to additional duties and services requested by executive leadership of companies, within the bounds of the Letter of Agreement between MCHAP Chaplains and the company.
• Ability to function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and within an interfaith environment.
• Capacity to accept diverse lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
• Proficient in listening and engaging with clients, employees, and their families.
• Competence in delivering community presentations.
• Capability to effectively interact with family members and staff during stressful situations.
• High regard for the dignity and worth of clients, employees, and their families.
• Skills to manage stressful situations and accurately document in accordance with established standards.
• Demonstrates spiritual maturity and commitment to a Christian lifestyle and the values of MCHAP's Ministry.

• Possesses a foundational understanding of the Holy Bible and its appropriate application.
• Affirms a saving faith in Jesus Christ and is actively involved in a biblically-based church.
• Proven ability to interact professionally with diplomacy, patience, and courtesy among diverse groups.
• Ability to establish and sustain effective, cooperative working relationships while delivering exceptional customer service.
• Skilled in making administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential matters.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively engage with leadership, colleagues, employees, and families.
• Capability to maintain emotional stability while coping with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze information to identify and address problems or objectives.
• Proficient in identifying solutions and resolving issues.
• Skilled at interpreting policies and procedures related to the position and keeping others informed.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using Google Suites, Microsoft Office, or equivalent software, along with internet, email messaging, and web-based applications.
• Ability to comprehend and adapt to new technology programs.
• Must possess a valid state driver's license and meet the state minimum auto insurance requirements (for the states where clients are served).
• No guaranteed minimum hours.
• Positional needs will vary based on Chaplain availability and client requirements.
