This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct thorough eligibility screenings to evaluate financial assistance eligibility and offer empathetic guidance on available programs.
• Facilitate the application process for programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, Disability, hospital charity care, or specific requirements for non-traditional funding, ensuring timely submission of accurate documentation.
• Serve as a liaison between patients, hospital personnel, and government agencies to determine eligibility, secure funding, and address coverage issues.
• Execute advanced follow-up tasks to ensure applications are complete and processed in an efficient manner.
• Identify and assist with technical medical requirements for disability programs, which includes scheduling medical appointments, completing disability applications, submitting appeals, and ensuring resolution of applications.
• Independently manage multiple patient cases, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and ensuring effective follow-up on pending applications.
• Clearly articulate financial obligations, funding options, and program details to patients in a compassionate and professional manner.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
• Consistently meet productivity and quality metrics, contributing to the organization's financial counseling goals.
• Effectively utilize various systems and databases to collect, track, and report patient data.
• Identify and assist with complex cases, including disability applications, scheduling appointments, and submitting appeals as required.
• Support the training and development of colleagues as needed to ensure smooth onboarding and service delivery.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency in both English and Spanish.
• Must reside in the Eastern Time Zone.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a customer-facing position, preferably in healthcare or financial counseling.
• Flexibility to provide support across multiple hospital locations and conduct in-home patient visits within the assigned market area based on operational needs.
• Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to convey complex information clearly and empathetically.
• Ability to identify solutions to financial challenges, utilizing program knowledge to assist patients effectively.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and patient needs.
• Proven ability to work independently in settings where there may only be one Eligibility Specialist present.
• Exhibit genuine concern for patients’ needs and concerns, fostering trust and rapport.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, hospital staff, and external agencies to achieve common objectives.
• Ensure that all documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted punctually.
