Bengali Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage on-demand interpreting calls between Bengali and English speakers

• Convey the meaning of discussions across various sectors, including healthcare, government, insurance, finance, utilities, travel and hospitality, general business, law enforcement, courts, and 911

• Provide audio and video interpretation services

• Process information swiftly and accurately while being mindful of sensitive cultural differences

• Utilize appropriate terminology and comprehend common industry protocols and practices

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly in a friendly and professional manner

• Engage in online, video, and audio training sessions

• Input data efficiently on a dedicated device

• Deliver accurate concepts and meanings in accordance with established interpretation protocols, avoiding omissions or additions

• Articulate clearly in both languages using correct pronunciation, enunciation, and courteous expressions

• Uphold a professional, neutral, and respectful demeanor during sessions

• Maintain composure during sensitive or emergency calls, including 911 calls

• Adhere to punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours

• Follow client guidelines and protocols while refraining from unauthorized interaction with the limited-English-speaking individual

• Implement industry-specific protocols and terminology

• Exhibit cultural sensitivity in a diverse environment

• Proficiency in Bengali and English along with an understanding of related cultural dynamics

• Capability to provide cultural competency and evaluate regional and accent variations

• Exceptional listening, retention, and note-taking abilities

• Capacity to remain neutral, objective, and detached during sensitive discussions

• Adaptability to LanguageLine Solutions technology advancements

• Must be at least 18 years old

• Legally authorized to work in the United States

• Must not currently or in the future require visa sponsorship for employment authorization in the United States

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Proficiency in reading and writing the required languages is highly preferred

• Dedicated personal device for business-related tasks

• Desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone with compatible operating systems

• High-speed internet with a minimum of 5 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload

• Access to a quiet area free from background noise or distractions

• Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse while remaining stationary in front of a computer and webcam for the majority of the workday

• Capability to use a headset for extended periods

• Proficient in operating company-provided software and systems

• Adequate manual dexterity to type or write

• Ability to lift up to 26 lbs

• May be required to undergo a post-offer, pre-employment background check and/or drug screening based on location
