Benefits Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Analyze and present proposals for medical, dental, vision, disability, group life, and voluntary benefit plans tailored to small and mid-sized business clients.

• Provide guidance to clients on the design of benefits packages and strategies for employee contributions.

• Lead presentations for client renewals and discussions regarding plan changes.

• Take ownership of renewal analysis, which encompasses budget and renewal projections, rate development, rate-tier and contribution analysis, as well as modeling and pricing for plan changes.

• Benchmark various plan designs, contributions, and costs against market data.

• Generate analyses for disruption, network discounts, administrative fees, and fully insured rates.

• Develop claim projections and IBNR reserve estimates for both level-funded and self-funded arrangements, while interpreting experience reporting.

• Ensure analytical files are clean and well-documented.

• Create and manage RFPs directed at insurance carriers and general agency partners.

• Review and validate quotes, assembling comprehensive annual renewal proposals.

• Foster and manage relationships with carrier and general agency partners.

• Collaborate with the internal Benefits Support team on renewal decisions and facilitate the transition to Open Enrollment.

• Utilize Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, and Melita's proprietary proposal and analytical tools effectively.

• Contribute to the establishment of documentation standards, process enhancements, and AI-driven automation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years in a position that involves analysis and/or support of small group benefits.

• Bachelor's degree is required.

• Active Life, Accident, and Health Producer License, or the willingness and capability to obtain licensing in the relevant states within a specified onboarding timeframe.

• Strong foundation in benefits financial analysis, including budget and claim projection, rate development, contribution analysis, and disruption and discount analysis.

• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort with CRM systems (Salesforce) and AI-enabled workflows.

• Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with the aptitude to cultivate trusted relationships with client decision-makers.

• Experience in a brokerage or consulting setting that supports small and mid-sized groups.

• Practical experience with fully insured and level-funded programs, and ideally self-funded programs.

• Established connections with carriers and general agency partners.

• Knowledge of ancillary and voluntary benefit product lines is a plus.

• Experience in leading, mentoring, or coordinating the work of others, including offshore staff.
