BAS Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage subconsultant scopes of work, which includes the creation, review, and coordination of Statements of Objectives (SOO), construction drawings, and technical specifications.

• Ensure that subconsultant deliverables are thorough, precise, and in compliance with project requirements, organizational standards, and relevant codes and regulations by utilizing the DLB QAQC process.

• Collaborate with project teams and external partners to oversee scope compliance, uphold quality standards, and facilitate timely delivery of design and documentation packages.

• Develop and manage project deliverables, including design drawings, sequences of operations, and specifications.

• Assist in generating various engineering drawings in AutoCAD and Revit formats, such as floor plan drawings, system architecture diagrams, point-to-point wiring diagrams, and control panel diagrams.

• Coordinate aspects with MEP trades that influence BAS.

• Recognize potential changes in project scope and contribute to strategies that minimize impacts and control deviations from estimated costs and deadlines.

• Oversee project deliverables even when not serving as the lead design engineer.

• Create, document, and maintain BAS and EPMS production standards in collaboration with the BIM team.

• Establish, document, and uphold BAS and EPMS specification sections.

• Regularly assess existing standards to ensure alignment with customer needs, DLB graphics standards, and ongoing industry innovations.

• Provide training, guidance, and support to staff on standards implementation and compliance.

• Work closely with outsourced partners on standards and training to ensure compliance across all projects.

• Collaborate as a part of the engineering team and closely interact with the project management team.

• Oversee and review shop drawings and submittals.

• Manage and respond to RFIs in a timely manner.

• Review punch lists and project closeout documents.

• Assist with and oversee onsite BAS engineering audits and feasibility studies.

• Assist in managing BAS engineering surveys for retrofit projects.

• Prepare and supervise the creation of project progress reports for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Generate and finalize departmental reports.

• Responsible for project contract administration.

• Utilize AI-enabled and digital tools to enhance efficiency, reduce manual workloads, and ensure consistent high-quality outputs.

• Identify avenues for process improvement and maintain a continuous learning mindset, seeking new technologies, skills, and methods that enhance both individual and team performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Familiarity with open-source protocols (BACnet, Modbus, and SNMP).

• Understanding of IoT and smart building solutions.

• Knowledge of standard data center control redundancy strategies.

• Awareness of materials, methods, and tools involved in constructing mission-critical commercial buildings or other structures.

• Proficient in using Revit and AutoCAD software.

• Skilled in using the MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), with exceptional organizational abilities for managing files.

• Capable of completing assignments accurately with a keen attention to detail.

• Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation.

• Proven ability to work effectively in a remote environment through strong communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness, and resourcefulness in a distraction-free setting.

• Capacity to identify and analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions.

• Adherence to company and site safety requirements.

• Proficient in analyzing and preparing documents, reports, and correspondence.

• Effective communication skills in both oral and written forms (covering both technical and non-technical information).

• Ability to communicate directly with clients and occasionally act as the primary client contact.
