Bank Integration Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Establish and manage secure host-to-host banking connections (SFTP), which includes SSH/PGP key exchanges and endpoint configurations.

• Integrate and conduct end-to-end testing of payment systems — from validating ISO 20022 files (PAIN and CAMT) to executing live penny tests with banks and clients.

• Direct technical bank integrations and payment projects, encompassing scoping, architecture, and delivery for both domestic and international payments.

• Analyze and resolve payment or statement discrepancies utilizing observability tools, logs, and database queries.

• Enhance reliability and scalability by optimizing processes, automating playbooks, and developing maintainable backend infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in developing backend systems within payments, fintech, or financial services — preferably with H2H, SFTP, or ISO 20022 integrations.

• Proficient backend development skills in Kotlin, Java, Go, or Python, along with a solid understanding of databases (Postgres or similar).

• Practical experience with payment file formats (PAIN and CAMT) and familiarity with SEPA, ACH, Wires, Faster Payments, CHAPS, and Bacs.

• Excellent communicator capable of effectively collaborating with banks, clients, and colleagues across various time zones.

• Methodical, detail-oriented problem solver who takes initiative and consistently seeks process enhancements.

• Hands-on experience with AI or emerging technology tools to boost productivity, insights, or decision-making, with the capability to employ first-principles thinking to tackle new challenges.
