This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Serbia.
β’ Oversee the system design for new functionalities and intricate modifications; generate and update architecture documentation and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
β’ Foster code quality, review standards, and engineering practices, including testing, CI/CD, code style, and operational readiness.
β’ Lead the response to technical incidents; compose post-mortems outlining clear root causes and subsequent actions.
β’ Identify and manage technical debt by maintaining a prioritized backlog and advocating for regular capacity to address it.
β’ Convert product requirements into technical solutions, milestones, and well-structured tasks.
β’ Guide engineers through design sessions, pair programming, and code reviews; mitigate key-person risk by disseminating knowledge throughout the team.
β’ Establish and maintain Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for team-managed services; ensure adequate logging, metrics, and alerting systems are in place.
β’ Coordinate technical dependencies with other teams, such as Content Serving, Processing, UGC, and DevOps; represent the team in architecture syncs and design evaluations.
β’ Assess and recommend technologies, patterns, and tools; pilot innovative approaches that provide clear benefits.
β’ A minimum of 4 years of backend software engineering experience with Golang and/or PHP, showcasing proven technical leadership in design, mentoring engineers, and architectural ownership.
β’ Proficient in NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB or comparable.
β’ Familiarity with relational databases, such as PostgreSQL or equivalent.
β’ Experience utilizing Golang in a production environment.
β’ Competence in designing and evolving backend architectures, including APIs, data flows, and service decomposition.
β’ Strong grasp of testing methodologies (unit, integration, E2E) and CI/CD pipelines.
β’ Capability to articulate technical trade-offs, risks, and designs effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Proficient in English at a B1+ level (both written and verbal communication).
