Backend Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain backend functionalities and microservices that support marketplace integrations.

• Create and enhance REST APIs, focusing on performance, scalability, and observability improvements.

• Contribute to integrations with platforms such as Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop, Mirakl, Walmart, Shopify, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, and WooCommerce.

• Implement API upgrades, OAuth/JWT authentication workflows, webhook receivers, synchronization logic, and resilient error handling and retry strategies.

• Take ownership of unit and integration testing for the features delivered.

• Engage in code reviews and contribute to the ongoing improvement of development practices.

• Collaborate on architectural decisions.

• Assist with production investigations through in-depth technical analysis.

• Take part in release activities, including smoke and regression testing as well as monitoring.

• Help coordinate efforts with offshore engineering teams.

• Communicate progress, risks, and technical suggestions across different time zones.

⛳️ Requirements

• Legally authorized to work in the Philippines.

• Strong expertise in Java (preferably Spring Boot), Node.js, or Python.

• Substantial experience with REST APIs, JSON, OAuth/JWT, webhooks, and HTTP protocols.

• Practical experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB along with solid SQL skills.

• Familiarity with Linux, Git, Docker, and ideally AWS.

• Proficient in reading logs, debugging distributed systems, conducting root-cause analysis, and writing clean, testable code.

• Experience or strong aptitude in eCommerce platforms, marketplace APIs, payment/shipping integrations, or ERP systems.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with support and customer-facing teams.

• Proven capability to work independently while also contributing positively within a small, high-output team.

• Preferred 3–8 years of backend software engineering experience, with strong mid-level engineers who have demonstrated integration work also being considered; seniors are welcome.

• Prior hands-on experience with the listed marketplaces is preferred.

• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Redis, message queues, Kubernetes, CI/CD, or Terraform is preferred.

• Experience working in remote, distributed teams across Asia and other time zones is preferred.
