Backend Engineer, PHP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Create and sustain robust backend services that manage high-volume global traffic.

• Develop functional APIs and enhance query performance.

• Contribute to a modular, resilient, and service-oriented architecture.

• Produce clean, maintainable code following SOLID principles, OOP best practices, and design patterns.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues throughout the technology stack.

• Incorporate asynchronous processes utilizing queues and fundamental event-driven patterns.

• Work collaboratively with Senior Engineers and Product teams to transform requirements into technical solutions.

• Take part in an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 service reliability for global operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional backend development experience with PHP.

• Demonstrated experience in building applications using Laravel or strong experience with Symfony and a willingness to transition to Laravel.

• Strong grasp of OOP, interfaces, and code modularity.

• Comprehensive knowledge of SQL, including database indexing, migrations, and basic query optimization.

• Capability to effectively utilize AI tools during technical tasks, including prompting, validating, and iterating.

• Familiarity with Docker and basic troubleshooting of CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience in writing unit and feature tests.

• Proficient in English with the ability to communicate technical progress within a remote team.

• Must currently reside in the UK and possess full eligibility to work there.
