This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Familiarize yourself with the current codebase and product requirements.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management to design and implement solutions.
• Work in tandem with the Frontend Engineer to deliver comprehensive product segments.
• Utilize AI-native development tools (Claude, Cursor, and similar) as the primary engineering environment.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of Ascend’s Agentic Framework.
• Influence AI-enhanced architecture and infrastructure decisions.
• Internalize and enhance Ascend’s software builder principles.
• Deliver high-quality code punctually and progressively increase delivery capacity.
• Support teammates by reviewing code and enhancing documentation.
• Propel sustained improvements in product velocity across the wider engineering organization.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
• Extensive experience as a backend or full-stack engineer in building and deploying production software, preferably in a fast-paced startup, AI, or enterprise SaaS context.
• Strong expertise in modern backend languages and frameworks (e.g., Python, TypeScript/Node.js, Go), with a history of designing scalable APIs and services.
• Practical experience integrating with foundational model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) and developing agentic or LLM-powered features in production.
• Proven familiarity with AI-native development environments (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) and a clear perspective on how these tools enhance engineering efficiency.
• Strong judgment regarding ROI and the ability to balance close customer collaboration with disciplined prioritization, building toward a long-term vision without getting sidetracked by low-leverage tasks.
• Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and secure coding practices.
• Excellent communication skills and the capability to build trust quickly with Product Managers, fellow engineers, and non-technical Partner Firm leaders.
• A bias toward delivery, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine enthusiasm for transforming a traditional industry through AI.
