Backend Engineer – Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Become a member of a team focused on AI-driven engineering.

• Develop and sustain backend services utilizing TypeScript and Node.js.

• Connect backend capabilities with third-party APIs and external data services.

• Produce clean, understandable, and thoroughly tested code.

• Leverage AI tools on a daily basis to enhance development, debugging, refactoring, and documentation processes without sacrificing quality.

• Collaborate closely with fellow engineers in a remote-first setting, actively sharing updates, challenges, and potential risks.

• Proactively identify issues by recognizing bugs, performance limitations, or architectural risks early, and take responsibility for implementing solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in backend development.

• More than 2 years of experience with Node.js.

• Practical experience in developing at least one large-scale system from the ground up.

• An AI-oriented mindset.

• Direct experience with tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work comfortably in an asynchronous, remote environment.

• A proactive and ownership-oriented approach: you identify issues early and contribute to their resolution.

• Ability to operate independently in a fully operational role while managing priorities and complexities.
