Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain scalable backend systems that support AI-driven functionalities in a live environment.

• Create efficient inference pipelines, orchestration workflows, and define service boundaries for machine learning models.

• Manage system health and observability, including monitoring performance, structured logging, alerting, and responding to incidents.

• Enhance latency and throughput by implementing intelligent caching, request batching, and streaming responses.

• Work alongside client and machine learning engineers to provide stable, efficient APIs for both mobile and desktop applications.

• Oversee the inference and orchestration layer that drives intelligent features across various client platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in core backend software engineering within production settings.

• Proficiency in Python and Node.js.

• Experience with infrastructure technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Practical knowledge of building and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency distributed microservices.

• Strong grasp of AI inference patterns, including large language models (LLMs), vector embeddings, and multimodal architectures.

• Hands-on experience in debugging and profiling complex distributed systems under significant load.

• Familiarity with commercial AI APIs, including OpenAI and Anthropic.

• Knowledge of self-hosted open-source models.

• Production-oriented mindset with a strong inclination towards shipping, monitoring live system performance, and quickly iterating.
