Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Slovakia.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage scalable backend systems that deliver AI-driven features in a production environment.

• Create efficient inference pipelines and orchestration workflows.

• Establish clear service boundaries for machine learning models.

• Take responsibility for system health and observability, which includes performance monitoring, structured logging, alerting, and incident response.

• Enhance latency and throughput through strategic caching, request batching, and response streaming.

• Collaborate with clients and machine learning engineers to provide stable, high-efficiency APIs for both mobile and desktop applications.

• Oversee the inference and orchestration layer that powers intelligent features across client platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in core backend software engineering within production settings.

• Proficiency in Python and Node.js.

• Familiarity with infrastructure tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Practical knowledge in building and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency distributed microservices.

• Strong understanding of modern AI inference patterns, including LLMs, vector embeddings, and multimodal architectures.

• Hands-on experience with debugging and profiling complex distributed systems under significant load.

• Knowledge of commercial AI APIs like OpenAI and Anthropic.

• Awareness of self-hosted open-source models.

• Production-oriented mindset with a focus on shipping, observing live system behavior, and rapid iteration.
