Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Lithuania.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage scalable backend systems that support AI-driven functionalities in a production setting.

• Create efficient inference pipelines, orchestration workflows, and clearly defined service boundaries for machine learning models.

• Take responsibility for system health and observability, which includes performance monitoring, structured logging, alerting, and incident management.

• Enhance system latency and throughput by implementing smart caching, request batching, and response streaming techniques.

• Work in collaboration with client and machine learning engineers to provide robust, high-efficiency APIs for both mobile and desktop applications.

• Lead the inference and orchestration layer that drives intelligent features across client platforms.

• Demonstrated experience in core backend software engineering within production settings.

• Proficiency in Python and Node.js.

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for infrastructure management.

• Practical background in building and maintaining distributed microservices that are high-throughput and low-latency.

• Strong grasp of contemporary AI inference patterns, including LLMs, vector embeddings, and multimodal architectures.

• Hands-on experience in debugging and profiling intricate distributed systems under significant load.

• Familiarity with commercial AI APIs such as OpenAI and Anthropic.

• Knowledge of self-hosted open-source models.

• Production-oriented mindset with a focus on shipping, monitoring live system performance, and rapid iteration.
