Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Estonia.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage scalable backend systems that support AI-driven features in a production environment.

• Create high-performance inference pipelines, orchestration workflows, and establish clear service delineations for machine learning models.

• Take charge of system health and observability, which includes performance monitoring, structured logging, alerting, and incident response procedures.

• Enhance system latency and throughput by implementing intelligent caching strategies, batching requests, and streaming responses.

• Work closely with client and machine learning engineers to provide stable, efficient APIs for both mobile and desktop applications.

• Oversee the inference and orchestration layer that drives intelligent features across client platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in core backend software engineering within production settings.

• Proficient in Python and Node.js.

• Familiarity with infrastructure tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Practical experience in building and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency distributed microservices.

• Comprehensive understanding of contemporary AI inference patterns, including LLMs, vector embeddings, and multimodal architectures.

• Hands-on experience with debugging and profiling complex distributed systems operating under significant load.

• Knowledge of commercial AI APIs like OpenAI and Anthropic.

• Familiarity with self-hosted open-source models.

• Production-oriented mindset with a strong inclination toward shipping, observing live system behavior, and rapid iteration.
