Backend Developer – Laravel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sri Lanka.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain backend services using the Laravel framework.

• Create, enhance, and maintain RESTful APIs.

• Construct scalable, secure, and maintainable backend functionalities.

• Deliver assigned features punctually while aligning with technical and business requirements.

• Recognize technical challenges early and work collaboratively with the team to address them.

• Develop solutions that integrate seamlessly with AWS services.

• Provide support for integrations with external platforms and systems as necessary.

• Adhere to best practices for testing, deployment, security, and application performance.

• Contribute to CI/CD processes and DevOps initiatives in collaboration with the engineering team.

• Collaborate closely with frontend, mobile, and QA teams to deliver comprehensive product features.

• Engage in planning sessions, estimations, and team discussions.

• Effectively communicate project progress, technical difficulties, and recommendations.

• Assist non-technical stakeholders by clearly explaining technical concepts.

• Produce and maintain API documentation and technical documents.

• Document technical designs, implementation choices, and key insights.

• Participate in retrospectives and contribute suggestions to enhance engineering processes.

• Support production systems by troubleshooting issues and implementing improvements.

• Share knowledge and foster a collaborative learning culture within the development team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in developing backend applications using Laravel or similar PHP frameworks.

• Proven experience in building and maintaining backend services, workers, and scheduled tasks.

• Strong expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs.

• Experience with and extending existing production codebases.

• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.

• Working knowledge of AWS services.

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus.

• Experience with CI/CD processes and deployment pipelines.

• Solid understanding of relational databases and backend architecture.

• Familiarity with DevOps principles and deployment best practices.

• Knowledge of POS system integrations is advantageous.

• Understanding of secure coding practices and API security.

• Experience in participating in code reviews and collaborative development.

• Strong interest in AI-assisted development tools and emerging technologies.

• Experience working in Agile development environments is beneficial.

• Ability to manage multiple development tasks and meet stakeholder expectations.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proactive, curious, and eager to learn from seasoned team members.

• Collaborative attitude with a readiness to share knowledge and contribute ideas.
