This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Executing deployments lasting up to two continuous months at Navy bases and various locations worldwide.
• Collaborating with Navy, Coast Guard, and other personnel while relaying essential information to the San Diego team.
• Launching and recovering Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs).
• Remotely overseeing and managing ASVs through a computer or phone during operational missions.
• Communicating bugs and feature requests to the San Diego development team to enhance operational efficiency.
• Utilizing electronic devices and maps to strategize missions, considering weather and other factors.
• Traveling frequently to San Diego to familiarize oneself with new vehicle features and maintenance/operations procedures.
• Fulfilling contracting obligations such as providing daily status updates via Slack, email, or Signal.
• Occasionally conducting nighttime operations.
• Responsible and possesses a good sense of humor.
• Comfortable working in high-pressure situations, instructing others, and responding quickly and decisively to new information.
• Effective in both written and verbal communication across various settings.
• Able to collaborate effectively with others, follow instructions, or work independently as required.
• Enthusiastic about traveling to new locations for extended durations.
• A fast learner who is also a patient troubleshooter.
• Proficient in using laptops, tablets, phones, and other technological devices.
• Capable of managing time effectively, yet comfortable working extended hours and committed to seeing tasks through to completion.
• Skilled in using hand tools and basic mechanical devices such as wrenches and screwdrivers.
• Safety-oriented.
• Resourceful, confident, and competent enough to complete tasks even when initial plans go awry.
• Prepared to engage in strenuous physical activity and operate heavy equipment in varying weather conditions.
• Holds a valid driver’s license with no restrictions and is comfortable driving in unfamiliar areas.
• Able to secure a security clearance.
• Experience on the ocean or around boats is a significant advantage.
• Familiarity with operating small boats.
• Experience in driving autonomous boats.
• Previous military service is a plus.
• Experience in working with children or teaching.
• Skilled with RC vehicles and/or video games.
• Knowledge of basic networking, electronics, or software troubleshooting.
• Experience operating a forklift.
• Familiarity with Word, Excel, and/or PowerPoint.
