This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Deliver field-based, on-site assistance at customer sites within the Baltimore, Maryland, and Washington, DC regions.
• Cultivate customer relationships to meet both customer and business development objectives.
• Identify, assess, address, or escalate customer challenges.
• Serve as the customer advocate and intermediary with the business development team.
• Install, troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and repair BD Lab Automation and various laboratory systems.
• Provide support for KiestrA, Microbiology, Molecular, and LC/MS systems.
• Utilize appropriate tools, testing equipment, electronic and computer skills, along with schematic diagrams.
• Collaborate with service and support teams to enhance field-service revenue through billable preventive maintenance and equipment relocations.
• Communicate tasks completed and outline follow-up actions.
• Proactively arrange and execute system upgrades with customers.
• Report and document customer issues in the official record systems.
• Manage spare-parts inventory, company vehicle, laptop, tools, and testing devices.
• Use the company credit card appropriately and adhere to expense policies.
• Travel for both scheduled and unscheduled visits, including overnight stays and occasional national assignments.
• Participate in weekend and holiday on-call rotations approximately every six weeks.
• Maintain a professional appearance.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronic Technology, Computer Science, Biomedical, or related fields OR over 10 years of relevant experience in troubleshooting and/or repairing complex electro-mechanical, electronic, computer, or electrical systems in commercial, industrial, or military environments is required.
• Knowledge of electronics, electro-mechanical devices (Mechatronics), PLCs, and pneumatics.
• Intermediate understanding of information systems networking architecture design and setup.
• Intermediate familiarity with computer software operating systems and the ability to collaborate with customer IT personnel and lab leadership on software upgrades and maintenance.
• Expertise in Robotics is preferred.
• Experience with Liquid Chromatography (LC) and Mass Spectrometry (MS) instrumentation is preferred.
• Familiarity with Lab Information Systems (LIS) and database management is preferred.
• A+, Microsoft, or Cisco certifications are advantageous.
• Understanding of basic computer security principles and standard procedures.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued Real ID driver's license with a minimum of three years of driving history and comply with BD's auto safety standards.
• Must engage in vendor credentialing programs and complete requirements to access customer facilities.
• Must have a Real ID.
• Capability to lift objects weighing 30 to 40 lbs from floor to chest level.
• Ability to operate manual sockets, crescent wrenches, and screwdrivers repeatedly over an 8 to 10-hour workday.
• Ability to sit, kneel, squat, bend, and stand repeatedly for an 8 to 10-hour period.
• Capability to push and pull items weighing up to 70 lbs.
• Ability to perform fine motor tasks while reaching for an 8 to 10-hour workday.
• Capability to carry a 30 lb. pack for up to one hour.
• Ability to drive for up to six hours in adverse weather conditions.
• Must be able to climb portable ladders and step stools.
• Must successfully pass a respirator fit test and annual spirometry if required.
